Framework drift
The app is still useful, but the framework version is old enough that every change carries extra risk. We map the next safe upgrade step.
FOR FOUNDERS, AGENCIES, AND SMALL SOFTWARE TEAMS
A small business helping teams get old software paths moving again.
Old Rails, Laravel, Django, Node, and PHP apps do not usually fail all at once. They get harder to update, harder to hire for, harder to secure, and harder to connect to the next thing the business needs.
J4 Upgrades starts with one clear upgrade path, one evidence check, and one practical next step.
Ask for the 2-minute fixSee what we need from youWHY J4 UPGRADES EXISTS
A lot of useful applications are not broken enough to replace. They are just old enough that every change gets expensive: dependency warnings, brittle tests, unsupported versions, deployment fear, and “we’ll upgrade it later” work that never gets scheduled.
J4 Upgrades is built to turn that vague technical drag into a short, concrete repair path with proof before anyone pays for a full job.
WHAT WE FIX
The app is still useful, but the framework version is old enough that every change carries extra risk. We map the next safe upgrade step.
Security warnings, abandoned packages, broken builds, or package conflicts are making normal development slower than it should be.
The upgrade might be possible, but nobody trusts the proof. We identify what evidence is missing before quoting risky work.
Forms, checkout, booking, login, or emails work “most of the time” until they cost a real customer. We isolate the failure path and propose the first repair.
WHAT THE FIRST STEP LOOKS LIKE
You send a public repo, version clue, error, screenshot, or short description. Do not send secrets, passwords, tokens, or customer data through email.
Plain English. Usually one specific upgrade, dependency, test, or broken path to fix first. No giant report.
If it makes sense, we define the acceptance proof before work starts: tests, build, reproduction, screenshot, deploy check, or replayable command.
For eligible work, we prepare the change and the evidence. If the codebase is too risky, we say that instead of pretending.
The result has to be reviewable: pull request, patch, report, or clear repair note with proof and remaining risks.
PRICING THAT HAS TO MAKE SENSE
First fix path: free, before you pay us anything.
Small repair / upgrade PR: usually $750–$1,500.
Larger upgrade path: fixed quote after the evidence check.
No vague retainer. If we cannot define a practical first repair with acceptance proof, we stop.
WHO WE SERVE
Founders / Agencies / Internal tools / SaaS apps / Rails / Laravel / Django / Node / PHP / Python
If the app still matters and old code is blocking the next sale, feature, or integration, J4 Upgrades is built for that.
